FMIT Alert Level 3: Tropical Storm Emily currently located near Duette, FL in Manatee County.

FMIT Alert Level 3
Moderate

Tropical Storm Emily currently located near Duette, FL in Manatee county. Much of the outer bands of the storm are moving off the southern portion of the FL peninsula. The storm is still producing MSW of 40 mph (up to 60 miles from center) and heavy rains in isolated areas of the state.

Emily is forecast to continue moving East (10 mph) for the next few hours before turning Northeast later this evening. Models predict that it will exit FL through Brevard County tomorrow morning as a possible Tropical Depression.

Emily has dumped up to 8 inches of rain (Hillsborough County) over portions of FL and caused localized flooding. Isolated wind gusts and some tornadic activity has been reported.

“FMIT has activated its Property Claims CAT Team procedures at its Emergency Operations Center in Orlando. While we do not anticipate severe, widespread damages from the storm, our Ride-Out teams are positioned outside the affected area to provide immediate response, if needed. Additional Alerts with response & recovery information will arrive as the Storm progresses.”
