FMIT Alert Level 4
Moderate-High

Potential Tropical Cyclone 3 Intensifies Into Tropical Storm Cindy as it Remains Mostly Stationary in The Gulf. Flash Flood Watch Issued For Majority of Panhandle Counties. Large Quantities of Moisture in Addition to Stalling Front Will Bring Heavy Rain to Panhandle & Surrounding Areas Posing a Potential Flood Threat Over The Next 1-4 Days.

FMIT Discussion

  • Potential Tropical Cyclone Three intensifies into Tropical Storm Cindy.
  • Current satellite imagery shows Tropical Storm Cindy is mostly stationary in the Gulf.
  • Cindy is expected to resume motion toward the northwest later today and eventually make landfall in the central Gulf Coast Thursday.
  • Flash Flood Watch is currently in effect for most counties in the Panhandle.
  • Due to the system’s East-loaded nature, Florida is currently feeling the effects of the Storm that may last over the next 3-5 days. Heavy rains in the Panhandle are projected to reach up to 5″-8″ by the time the storm clears.
  • Ride Out teams are being stationed in the Panhandle and Tallahassee areas to assist Members with the response and recovery process.
